Carel van Savoyen (1619–1665), also known as Carlo da Savoia, was a Flemish painter of the Baroque period.
He was the brother of the painter Filips van Savoyen. He became betrothed on 20 April 1649 with Catharina Wandelman, saying then he was 28 years of age, and from then on lived and painted in Amsterdam. He was a student of Jan Cossiers.[1] According to Houbraken he painted a painting of Adonis and Venus that was the subject of a poem by Jan Vos.[2]
A painting by his hand of Jan de Doot holding a kidney stone in the shape of an egg, hangs in the Anatomy museum in Leiden, part of the University of Leiden.
